This resource describes how the Cherokee Nation Enterprises utilizes their casino profits. It goes into detail about what services and programs benefit the most and also states how the profits are reinvested to generate jobs in the local area. From these profits, the Cherokee were able to join forces with major corporations and expand on their casino businesses. These expansions with their new partners will only increase casino profits and their communities will benefit even further in the future.
My friend read this summary and stated that he was interested in reading the article to see the facts that were given. He said that nothing further was needed as this quick summary grabbed his attention but then again he works in a casino so I think that had a lot to do with his eagerness to read how the Cherokee’s were doing.
Gaming dollars account for the majority of the Cherokee Nation's general fund, which finances these vital services. Without support from Cherokee Casinos, services that rely on the tribes general fund could be cut by more than half.
The Cherokee Nation has a general fund which relies on casino profits to run the programs within the tribe. Without these profits, it’s possible that this fund could decrease by more than 50% therefore decreasing the money directed towards vital services (Native American Times).
I wasn’t sure how to cite the resource at the end of the paraphrase. It was an article in the Native American Times which I accessed through the library database but it was facts that were in the Cherokee Nation’s fiscal report. What do I cite??
