D#7 HW#6 Situate a Resource Rhetorically

The author is Peter Katel and he is a graduate of the University of New Mexico in University Studies. I’m assuming that because he wrote this article for CQ Researcher that they are his employer. He has been affiliated with Time magazine, Newsweek, and worked as a reporter in New Mexico. I believe that he was trying to provide information on how tribes are indeed making progress due to casinos. From what I have read it seems that he has gone to the roots of the tribes he was researching and that helps me to identify the purpose of his work. I think that because he was a reporter in New Mexico that he was in close contact with the tribes there and possibly sympathized with their struggles and through his article he was trying to pass along information to his audience. Maybe his audience was unaware of the constant struggles nor did they understand how casinos benefited or didn’t benefit the tribes.
